Here are some tips I give my students for answering matching questions on tests. They seem to apply to other things as well.
8 Tips for Matching
1. Go with your gut feeling –
except when it’s wrong.
2. Start with the easy answers,
but don’t end with them.
3. Check off choices as you use them,
but don’t cross them out completely.
You never know what you might
have to reconsider.
4. Never leave an answer blank;
anything is better than surrender.
5. When two matches make sense,
choose the one that leaves you
options elsewhere.
6. Don’t use the same answer twice
unless you want to be sure
to be wrong
at least once.
7. The letters for the right answers
may spell something,
or they may not.
8. If there are more answers
than you need, some of them
may be jokes you don’t get.
