On Hearing Hank Williams and William Carlos Williams Were Both Born On September 17^th

                       

                        Hear those slick tongued Williams boys

                        write a tune to tear your heart.

                        They seemed to share the same sharp skill

                        though born forty years apart.

                        And when Hank asked Doc for those pills

                        to kill the pain that made him lie,

                        Doc gave him a cold, sweet plum

                        so lonesome it could cry.
