Memory

I don't think I've quite landed this one, but here is a short first draft.

                                                               Memory


                                                      Is a slippery silver fish.
                                                     We catch it as best we can,
                                                     magnifying it if we must
                                                     so it doesn’t slip between
                                                     our fingers. Better bigger
                                                     than never caught or left
                                                     to flail at the bottom
                                                     of the boat.
