Antaeus at the Exxon

Today our one car is getting new tires.  Here's a brief poem based on seeing cars up on the hydraulic lift for a tire change.  (For those of you whose Greek mythology is rusty, Antaeus was a giant wrestler who would become stronger every time he was thrown to the ground. Heracles/Hercules defeated him by holding him in mid-air and choking him.) This one is shorter and lighter (mostly) than yesterday's.

Antaeus at the Exxon
                                                          The car looks helpless,
                                                           lifted off the earth
                                                           and stripped of its wheels,
                                                           but once re-grounded
                                                           and no longer tire-less,
                                                           it growls and roars again,
filling the garage with its fury
                                                           and its fumes.
